FAQ
_______
What is acupuncture? Acupuncture is a part of Chinese Medicine. With its origins dating back approximately 3000 years, acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles into specific points in the body (which are referred to as acupuncture points). An acupuncturist is said to manipulate the "Qi" (energy) of the body in order to address a wide range of health concerns. |
Will it hurt?
Acupuncture needles are extremely thin and extremely sharp, meaning that they cause little or no pain on insertion. Acupressure (fingers pressure) is offered as an alternative to needles if necessary. How long will the treatment take? Treatment sessions are 60minutes. The needles remain in place for 20-40 minutes. How long will it take to work? Most general conditions respond well within the course of ten treatments. How often will I need to come? At the start of treatment your visits may be closer together. As treatment progresses and your condition improves the treatments become more spaced. Eventually we recommend coming at the change of seasons, for a "tune up". |
